Centralised Dashboards Coming to Google Analytics

Google Analytics has announced that they are rolling out shareable dashboards. This is great news for those of us who want to show other people on our team some, but not all, of our Analytics reports. Custom dashboards already allow us to bring together related reports, enabling us to view related data in a single setting. In addition to this, we are able to share our dashboard templates so that other users of our Analytics account can view the same reports. This feature also allows us to share dashboards with the community at large.

Next Logical Step

This new Shareable Dashboardfeature is the next logical step in the process of making our data easier to access and share. With the new Dashboards we can share our creations in an even easier way. Simply click the share button and the click share dashboard. Now your dashboard is available to all users of your Google Analytics account. This not only allows us to share our dashboards in an easier way, but it also allows us to know what we have shared with our team.

Private vs Shared

The new Shared Dashboards are separated from our private dashboards in the left hand menu, keeping them conveniently apart. It means that your resident Google Analytics expert can create the dashboards you need and give easy access to them to the whole team.

Sharing Customisations

This is another step in Google’s trend toward giving us the ability to have public, and private Google Analytics assets, and suggests that we might be getting more options to share our customisations in upcoming releases.
