Since the launch of Amazon Web Services in 2006, the company has grown into one of the largest web services providers in the world. It’s now adding to those credentials by announcing a new business intelligence and analytics solution, QuickSight. The new cloud-powered service promises cheap and easy access to intelligence for all employees regardless of technical skill. QuickSight will allow them to build visualisations, perform ad-hoc analysis, and quickly get business insights from their data - all without limiting users to canned reports or pre-selected queries. The service integrates with current web services offered by Amazon and is scalable to hundreds of thousands users for its enterprise clients.
Amazon also promises mobile native apps in iOS and Android for insights on the go. To help bridge the gap between analysts and management, Amazon unveiled a variety of visualisation capabilities including a storyboard, so insights aren’t drowned out by numbers.
QuickSight is currently still in preview, and you need an AWS account number to sign up, but we have no doubt we’ll be hearing much about this service in the near future.
