Google has announced that it’s closing Helpouts – a platform that connects people one-on-one for live video help. Helpouts was launched in November 2013 and the platform included free and paid advice. And offered a range of consulting and advice services – from fitness advice, fashion consulting to brewing the perfect coffee. Google has said it made the decision because “it hasn't grown at the pace we had expected”. Helpouts will continue until 20 April 2015 and then users will be able to download their history until 1 November 2015.
While the shutdown of the service marks the end to the mix of free and paid advice, Google Hangouts continue to be a popular way for people to share knowledge and connect with different communities. Head over to Google+ Hangouts and you will find a range of different topics being discussed
