At a recent event in San Francisco, Google announced they were rolling out a range of new updates aimed to boost productivity in the workplace and improve life admin. The changes include Explore, Templates, integrated app search, dictation and a more advanced revision tracker.
The button aptly named ‘Explore,’ gives you the ability to automatically transform information in any table into graphs for easy analysis. All you need to do is select the data you want and drag and drop the chart back into the sheet which we think is pretty cool.
'Templates' is a new feature that’s designed to inspire people creating new Docs, Sheets or Slides. This update features sleek designs within categories such as resumes, letters, education and work.
Although the ‘Research’ tool has been available on web, the new update means Android users will be able to perform integrated searches within the Google Docs app. The tool also allows users to search for images or text and move it into your doc using the ‘insert’ function. We can’t wait for it to come out on iOS!
This massive update is the product of years of research and development into Google’s voice-recognition technology. The new dictation function is available in 40 different languages and is perceptive, so no need to train it to your voice – just tap and talk.
See New Changes
Anyone who’s an avid collaborator will rejoice at Google’s ‘see new changes’ option. If multiple people are working on a doc at once, their work will be colour coded and you can see who edited something, just by hovering over the change. Revision history still lives but this update is designed to make team work even easier.
All in all, we’re loving Google’s new productivity updates! Have you tried them out? Let us know in the comments section below.
