YouTube is rolling out its new TrueView for Shopping allowing advertisers to embed their products in videos or list them alongside videos. TrueView for Shopping links ads into the same dashboard used for Google Merchant Center. Advertisers can now have their product ads added to their videos automatically simply by linking their video campaign with a feed in Merchant Center. Built on the Cards platform introduced in March this year, TrueView for Shopping will eventually replace annotations.
Cards display as an overlay alongside a video allowing advertisers to provide more details on products and links to product pages. The featured products are dynamically added to in-stream video ads based on standard TrueView targeting features such as topic areas, geography and demographics.
Google has indicated TrueView for Shopping will be available in the front end interface of Google AdWords within months.
